If Hafiz ji is still alive I am amazed. I think he is talking about the one hotel that was situated at the chauraha leading on one side to town hall via Inspector of School’s office and Majestic Talkies on the other. It was indeed as he has so superbly described. I remember a student of mine in Islamic who was supposedly his son, and who was famous for his superb manners and his pristine dressings, was seen sometimes doing ‘bearer’ in the evenings. His ‘bakre ke kababs’ were special. and yes it was THE destination of college students, lawyres and poets etc. Thanks for bringing this great SPN icon to book. I am thrilled.
    (2) The article on ‘Ghadi’ is also very good read.

No dear Hafiz ji has expired long back. But your memory is still very sharp and your recollection of location of the said hotel is remarkable.I know only one son of Hafiz ji and his name is Mr. Abdul Quddoos. He was with us in the factory and has also been retired from service. My be he is the same fellow.

I am thrilled to know that one of my aquantance of early life has grown to be such a talented writer. My memory of last few minutes meeting with him is in the verandah outside the Principal’s office of Islamia in 1981. But I can never forget him. I find that I am very hard to please and Jamal has succeded in making me pleased in each and every of his articles. And thanks to you sir.
